Manufacturing Engineer

Our client in Coeur d’Alene, ID, a leader in advanced composite manufacturing for aerospace and defense, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join their engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical role in the quoting, planning, and execution of composite component and assembly manufacturing. This role is responsible for applying engineering principles and cost analysis to develop accurate estimates and efficient manufacturing plans. The successful candidate will support new business opportunities, product development, and production optimization by collaborating with engineering, business development, and operations teams. Compensation for the Manufacturing Engineer

• $90,000 - $110,000 Annually DOE

Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer

• Work closely with Business Development and customers to develop competitive quotes, including labor, materials, hardware, tooling, and NRE/NRC costs.
• Analyze and interpret purchase orders, technical drawings, and customer datasets to develop manufacturing strategies.
• Translate customer specifications into clear manufacturing plans and routers while ensuring compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, and other applicable standards.
• Assist in the design and planning of manufacturing processes, including layout, workflow, and production methods to improve efficiency.
• Support quoting prioritization and manage the active RFQ list to ensure timely response.
• Coordinate with Purchasing for sourcing components and materials during the estimation process.
• Support the development of tooling scopes of work and tool repair requirements.
• Assist in implementing lean manufacturing principles and identifying cost-saving initiatives.
• Support quality control efforts by identifying opportunities for process improvements and supporting internal audits.
• Provide technical support across departments and contribute to cross-functional initiatives.
• Conduct strategic assessments and provide input into bid/no-bid decisions.
• Maintain professional, collaborative, and customer-focused interactions with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements for the Manufacturing Engineer

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field from an accredited University.
• Minimum of 3- 5 years recent working experience in engineering or related field; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of composite fabrication techniques, materials, and tooling requirements.
• Demonstrated experience with quoting and estimating in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
• Ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and datasets.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
• Experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement strategies.
• Recent experience with and demonstrated competency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software (Solid Works and CATIA preferred) and Microsoft Office including excellence in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Aviation and/or Defense Industry experience preferred.
• Must be a United States citizen.
• Knowledge within the SAP MRP production control system (Sage and Global Shop preferred).
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Excellent technical and analytic skills.
• Experience with tooling design, tooling design reviews, and tooling supplier management are preferred.
